This was a good week for me exercisewise - I rode the stationary bike for 30 minutes five times, completed a 30 minute strength training routine using 10 pound weights two times, and Robbie and I took a short (18 minutes) exercise walk one day. So, today I'll share with you the exercise equipment that I used this week.
First is the stationary bike itself, my staple for getting in cardiovascular exercise each week.
Next is my collection of hand weights. I have 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 pound hand weights. Since I have not worked with them in the past two months, I started this week using the 10 pound weights. My plan for next week is to complete half the exercises with the 10 pounders and the other half with the 12 pounders, then be able to complete the entire routine with the 12 pound weights the following week. I am hoping to then re-try the new routine I tried at the beginning of the year using the 10 and/or 12 pound weights.
For strength training, I also have a pair of weight lifting gloves which I started using when I first purchased my 12 pounds weights. The gloves really help cushion my hands and give me a better grip on the weight.
And the last piece of exercise equipment I used this week is a nice sturdy solid wood chair. OK, I realize that technically this is a piece of furniture, however I purchased it specifically for use in my strength training routine. I use it for several of my weight lifting exercises. The fact that it also matches the armoire and chest of drawers in the exercise room is a bonus!
I have several other pieces of exercise equipment that I did not use this past week, however my plan is to pull out three of them (body ball, jump rope, step) next week and try them for at least one exercise session and then share them with you in next week's post.
Please someone tell me that I'm not the only one with exercise equipment that rarely (or never) gets used!?!
I am so impressed by all that keep-fit-kit! Amazing ... I have none. Correction, I have a Pilates book, which I ought to use more often. You are inspiring me :).
ReplyDeleteOohh those gloves are so cute; almost makes me wanna work out just so I can wear them. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had an exercise room, especially on rainy days like today. I get cardio by going for runs along the beach but I don't have any strength training in my exercise program. Maybe I should buy some weights and cute gloves :)
Wow, good for you - very inspiring! I have very little in the way of fitness gear, and I rarely use any of it.... We do play on Wii Fit and Wii Family Trainer now and then, though!
ReplyDeleteThat is impressive! Good for you for continuing with wellness:) I on the other hand have had very little motivation. I am only getting to the gym 1-2 times/week. This is one of the worst Winter's ever, as it is already the middle of March and the snow is still as high as it was in January and the temperatures haven't changed either. I suppose it is great if you like skiing :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you Melissa! I wish I could say I've been as motivated and diligent, but I would be lying if I did. I have a treadmill, fitness ball, hand weights, ankle weights, various PT bands and tubing, a gym membership and lots of grand plans but precious little follow-through lately.
