My Layout - Fun Tradition Wrapping Paper

I was so excited to finally use some of the bits & pieces of wrapping paper I've saved each year on today's layout and record our wrapping paper tradition.

Journaling reads: Every year, we buy new Christmas paper to wrap each other’s gifts. I pick out a special paper (or papers) for Robbie’s gifts & he picks out special papers for mine. Then we choose one day the week of Christmas to wrap our gifts at the same time, in different rooms so we can’t see our gifts, of course! We banter back & forth as we wrap: “Oh, you are going to LOVE this gift.” “This is such a great gift, can’t wait ‘til you open it!” When we’re both done, we put everything under the tree and fill the stockings. [The leftover paper gets used the next year for family & friend’s gifts.] The papers on this layout are from 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Do you have any special traditions associated with wrapping paper and the process of wrapping gifts?

  1. We pretty much do what you do :) We pick out "boy" and "girl" papers for the kids - it saves Santa on labelling to just colour code their gifts! and like you we all go off to different rooms and shout out as we wrap. I love it

  2. so cute! This year I picked out one special paper for each recipient & wrapped the gifts without labels, mostly so I could leave them out & noone would know what was for who.

  3. I've done the one paper per kid thing in the past - until we had so many "leftovers" that it ended up being a hodge podge the last few years.

I've been following all your posts for the Christmas class - I hated sitting out, but knew I wouldn't have time. Turns out I've already documented much of this thanks to JYC/December Daily, so I feel much better about it now!

  4. Great layout and tradition. I used to buy special paper for the immediate family. Lately I buy 3 rolls of coordinating, this year I was all about reds and white, next years (already bought) will be blues.

  5. I buy different papers for kids presents to the adult ones :) ... And I do like to co-ordinate with my tree.

  8. Love this page. For the last three years, all the wrapping paper has been red and white. I love the way the patterns all go together. I didn't have to buy any new paper this year, and I think I have plenty for next year as well!

  9. I love this! I'm particularly attached to the wrapping paper we use and it would be fun to put it in a layout.
