Today I'm sharing ten more photos from our trip to Southfork Ranch last month as part of Shimelle's Ten Things. (You can see my first set of photos here.) As I mentioned last time, exterior scenes for the show Dallas (the original and the new series starting this week) were filmed here. The interior of the house was not used for filming, however it has been decorated to reflect the lifestyle and personalities of the Ewing family. The small house in the last photo was used in the original series as a bunkhouse for ranch hands, and we learned on our visit that in the new series it was used as the house where the Ewing's cook and her daughter (John Ross's girlfriend) live.
We have our calendars set to watch the new two hour premier of Dallas this Wednesday evening. Anyone else planning to watch and see if it can compete with the original?
what a cool post~I bet that was so interesting and gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun - brings back great memories of all the drama. No date announced yet for when it will be aired in UK - look forward to hearing how well they do with the new series
ReplyDeleteI remember watching the original.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's going to be showing here yet. I remember the original and student games where you copied what was happening on screen in terms of jumping on the bed or having a drink. I recall people being quite drunk by the end of an episode.
ReplyDeleteyou know what, I never watched Dallas when it was on originally (I was a Dynasty girl. I know. Shoot me now!). so I probably won't watch this time either. Great photos though!
ReplyDeletewonderful photos, I must watch the new show
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures...I haven'd when it will air on UK TV either, but I'll be interested to see how it compares!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
I liked Dallas when it was on, but I probably won't watch this round. I've pretty much given up on TV series in general. I had no idea (until last month) that Southfork was a tourist destination!
ReplyDeleteOh such memories, I was a diehard fan until Dynasty stole me away. I won't watch the new series since I have just a few shows I watch these days. I haven't seen it advertised but then again I don't remember seeing any TV this week and if I did it was probably DVRed
ReplyDeleteThese are a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to the new ahow reaching the UK. It used to be on Wednesday nights here all those years ago, and I can remember hurrying my homework so I would be ready to watch!
ReplyDeleteWow, seeing that house brought back Dallas memories! I will probably check out the new show. We, well, I, used to be a faithful Dallas watcher!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Though I think I'd find those big portraits in the house a bit scary! x
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories brought back looking at those photos Melissa, I especially liked seeing the paintings of all the characters. I think we will watch the new series and see what it's like, but will probably PVR it. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember watching the original with my mum! I think the portraits don't really match the decor.. strange.
ReplyDeleteWow that's quite a house. Love the photos of all the characters. My mom use to watch the show, it will be interest to see if they can recreate the magic of the original.
ReplyDeleteI had no clue about the new series but your photos sent me way, way back when I was watching it as a kid! :) Thanks for sharing photos of your visit!
ReplyDeleteThose photos bring back some VERY old memories of the original series! Looks like an interesting place to visit. I'm not that bothered by the new series though ... it'll probably be a while before it makes its way across the pond too.
