Multi-Photo Solutions - class review

Earlier this summer, I signed up for the BPC Multi-Photo Solutions four-week workshop. I kept up pretty well with the material until the final week, however I have since gone back and reviewed all the workshop materials and thought I'd share my accomplishments and a review of the class here.

Overall, I would rate the workshop very good. The materials were excellent with new inspiration for how to use multiple photos each week - multi-photo scrapbook layouts, 8x8 and 6x6 mini-albums & photo collages, divided page protectors, and displaying photos in a photo file or printer's tray. However, there was very little interaction in the classroom on the message board and in the gallery. This may be due to the fact that this was the second time this workshop was offered. I've only taken one other second run workshop at BPC and in both cases the instructor was not as active in the classroom as in other workshops I've taken.

As for my accomplishments, so far I've completed seven layouts using 51 photos with inspiration and sketches from the first week's materials! (See my first layout inspired by this workshop here.) Here's a look at one of the two-page layouts that showcases 10 photos. (Yes, there are people playing basketball while riding donkeys in these photos! We were merely spectators.)

I have page kits assembled to create two more layouts with inspiration from this workshop, and I'm planning to use some of the 8x8 mini-album ideas with a large group of photos from last fall. I think I'll also use one of the display ideas to create a Christmas gift (or two).

Overall I think the class was a good deal - the cost was $25, however I had a $10 reward coupon at BPC, so I only paid $15. Have any of you taken this workshop? Did you find it inspiring?

  1. What a great review - I really appreciate you taking the time to write it. I didn't take the class, but I really like the topic.

  2. Thanks for the review - I've also found the second time around workshops aren't as active. But then I'm also guilty of not being active on the boards so...

The idea of donkey basketball made me laugh and I like the way you've got so many photos there to tell the story :)

  3. Thanks for the review. I love using many photos on a layout and really like how yours turned out.

I'm not sure how people play baseball on donkeys but I beat it was pretty funny.

  4. I haven't seen donkey basketball since high school! I didn't take this class and it isn't a topic that particularly interests me... but I do agree about the second run workshops. Maybe with the exception of Stacy's classes which have been crazy active no matter how many times I've participated.

  5. Appreciate the review of the class. Love your page and the topic! Way back when, I played donkey basketball for a school fund raiser. It was crazy.

  6. I haven't taken that one, although it sounds interesting. There is a tendency around the web to scrap fewer and fewer photos on pages. As an aside, I generally shy away from second run classes because they are basically self-study and I really prefer the interaction that goes into classes on any forum. In fact I am in the BPC class that starts today. It looks like you've gotten your value out of this one already, with still more benefits to come. Good for you!

  7. Donkey basketball? That's a new one on me!

I do enjoy a good review. And I also enjoy the forum interaction a class provides. One thing I've noticed with BP classes is that the forum tends to start out very enthusiastic and then tails off dramatically towards the end of the class. I haven't noticed this so much with other class providers

  8. I was about to sign up for a workshop that will be starting soon, but it has been taught before. Now I am torn on whether I should or not. I am not a big participator on the message boards or gallery but I enjoy reading and looking at both.

  9. That's a lovely page with lots of Interest to catch the eye and I am new to this variant of basketball too! Thank you for the review - it is always so helpful to read them and get an idea of the benefits and pitfalls. I have taken a number of BIg Picture Classes and have also noticed a reduction in participation as the class progresses, nut ave wondered whether this is due to the pace of the class and participants not bring able to keep up.

  10. Great 2-pager! I did not take this one, and now that I'm working, I'm hoping I'll be able to sign up for more classes again. Sounds like you've been productive with the class material!
