This year Sian prompted us to share the items that are precious to us, and today I'm sharing this precious photo.
Yes, that's me . . . wearing my first skates . . . one of my gifts for my 2nd birthday. Skating is a huge part of our family history, however that's a story for another day. The reason this photo is precious to me is because it's the only one that I know of with just me and my maternal grandmother in it. There are a few other photos that both me and Grandma are in, but those include other people as well.
I recently created a layout for the Scrappin' Goodtime Design Team using the New Year New You papers by Webster's Pages to showcase this photo and the story of why it's precious to me.
Journaling reads: When I think of Grandma, I think of this picture. It was taken at my birthday party the year I turned two. This is how I remember Grandma, not a real memory in the sense that I can recall the day and events - I simply remember seeing this photo when I flipped through Mama's photo albums. Grandma died a few weeks after this photo was taken. But I like to imagine that she would have been there for other celebrations and that she would have always had her hands out ready to help me if I stumbled - just like in the photo.
I'm excited to finally have this story scrapped and to add this photo of me and Grandma to my Early Years scrapbook!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet memory and layout. Although I'd have guessed you were three in that picture! Maybe it is the skates, but you sure look tall!
ReplyDeleteAren't you just lovely? Just like those hands behind about to steady you if need be. Sometimes the legacy we leave is not of a clear memory but an enduring encouragement to step out and be all that we can be :).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful story and lovely layout too
ReplyDeleteI have many memories that are associated more with a photo than a real event. This is a precious story.
