One Little Word - January

The prompts for January in Ali Edward's One Little Word class were all about setting intentions, investigating our word, setting the groundwork for positive change and getting our thoughts down on paper. I am using an 8 1/2 x 11 3-ring notebook that I had in my stash for this project. I added the word FUN and the date 2014 on the front of the notebook and set to work on January's pages.

Over the past few weeks, I've given lots of thought to my word and how I intend to include more FUN into my life this year, so it was fairly easy for me to complete this month's pages. I used letter and number stickers for the title block in this first 3-pocket page. I printed the Make Your Word Visible card (provided with the class materials) and filled in the spaces for definition and thesaurus. I actually cut pieces from an old dictionary and thesaurus, then wrote in additional definitions and synonyms.
The photo was one from New Year's Day - I like it because it shows me having FUN playing a game and there are some scrapbook layouts and a January calendar in the background. My printer started running out of ink while this photo was printing, so it's faded at the bottom. However, I had some new transparencies in my stash, so I simply added one of those in the pocket over the photo and really like the way it turned out.

The remaining three pages contained prompts for writing why we chose our word, questions about how the word is already a part of our life, what we fear and what we are excited for in 2014, what we want more or less of, and our intentions for inviting our word into our life.

I am so excited to have this album started and am looking forward to continued FUN throughout 2014!

  2. At this point you are ahead of me! I didn't realize that those pieces were all meant to be different sizes and I'm not using an album or page protectors this year... I'm using a spiral notebook. So it will be interesting to see how I fit it all together!

  6. Oh how lovely - I really like that photo of you with the game and calendar :) I've not printed the cards out. Don't have the page protector pieces - they've been out of stock. Think I'll just work and hope they come back into stock soon :)

  8. It's a great photo. Although I'm not taking Ali's course, I have purchased a little notebook to record this year's journey with my OLW.

  9. What a great start! I made an art journal page with my word (illuminate) and I have been thinking about it with regard to my photography this week and also in clearing away and throwing away all kinds of things in the bedrooms.
I'll be looking forward to what seeing your journal come together this year.
