Because I've seen the preview, I already knew a good bit of this true story - a young boy survives a life-threatening surgery and then reveals that he spent time in heaven. He talks about his great-grandfather (who died when his dad was only a boy), his sister (who his mom miscarried) and where his parents were during his surgery - people and things his parents had never discussed with him and that he could not possibly have know about at his young age.
Since I knew so much of the story, I did not expect the book to be a can't-put-it-down kind of read . . . but it was! This is a fabulous story that shares this young boy's glimpse into heaven. His father is the author of the book, and it is extremely well written, using quotes and comments that came from this innocent young child as he shared about his experience in a nonchalant kind of way, like it was just one of the many things that had happened in his short life. This book was originally published in 2010, so it's been out a while. The copy I received was a special movie edition and had photos and interviews with the family and the director and actors involved in the upcoming movie.
I highly recommend this book! Robbie's reading it now, and we are both looking forward to seeing the movie!
Have you read this book? Are you planning to see the movie?
I haven't read the book, but it sounds interesting :). Hope you both enjoy the film too and look forward to your review.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read it... guess I need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteI read this book when it came out a few years ago and loved it. Since then, we read Proof of Heaven as our family book club book last summer. It's the same sort of book with a more scientific edge to it. It had a real impact on several family members. I can't wait for the movie to come out.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly sounds intriguing. maybe the kind of movie TSO and I could watch together and talk about afterwards
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it but now I want to!

ReplyDeleteI'd LOVE to see this movie! In fact, I didn't really know much about it at all until I just read your review, so it's definitely on my agenda!!
