Where Does My Inspiration Come From? (1)

This post is the first in a two-week series of daily posts where I'm sharing my recently created layouts along with the inspiration that prompted me to create them. I tend to think that I always start with a photo when I scrapbook, however as I looked back through a recent batch of layouts, I realized that the inspiration to sit down at my craft table and create a layout comes from many different sources.

Back in February, Mama came to visit and scrap with me for a couple of days. The first day she completed several layouts, including the one below showcasing photos of our "poor college students' turkey." (I added the journaling blocks later.)

The next day Mama created several more layouts, one of which included the EXACT SAME PHOTOS as this layout! Now, I should tell you that Mama had spent several days putting together photos and page kits to work on while she was here. So, she had worked with these photos first on the computer as she chose which ones to scrap, then when she printed them out, and again when she was picking papers and embellishments to go with them. However, she did not realize that she had put together two kits with the same photos until I pointed out that she had scrapped those same photos the day before!

We had a great laugh over this incident, and Robbie snapped this photo of the two layouts. I think it's interesting to note that she chose different designs and colors for each kit! Since I hadn't scrapped the story about the Cornish hen, Mama gave me one of the layouts for my albums. Of course, I knew right away that I would have to make a layout to share this story of the twice scrapped photos.

Since I was working my way through the Scrapbook Outside The Pocket workshop, I had a batch of 3x4 and 4x6 cards in a basket on my desk. I didn't use any of the specific design ideas from the workshop for this layout, however I definitely credit the workshop for giving me lots of ideas for using these cards on traditional layouts. I pulled two of the smaller cards to use for the journaling on this layout, cutting off about 1/3 of the card and keeping just the grid portion.

Many of you know that I scrap whatever inspires me, without regard to chronology at all. However, one of my goals this year is to scrap more of this year's stories as the year goes along. When these photos of me and Mama arrived, the story inspired me to put them on a layout and get this FUN story recorded.
