I have a small box in the guest room closet where I store the ornaments we collect each year, so the new ones are always the first ones on the tree. So far this year, we've added two new ornaments to our collection. The first one we picked up when we finally stopped at the Sam Houston Statue on I45.
The other we picked up at the gift shop at Johnson Space Center. We have an ornament from our previous trip to the Space Center, however this one is different. I always mark the date somewhere on the ornament, so it's definitely ok to have more than one from any given location.
What types of items do you collect when you travel?
Today I'm linking up with Cate and her challenge to blog every day in May.
We also have a collection of ornaments we've picked up on our travels. We've been weeding out some of the ornaments the last few years---the collection is too big for the tree, but none of the travel ones will be discarded. I love to think back to the trips we took when they were purchased.
ReplyDeleteI have ornaments for Hawaii and Disney World but that's it. And I did buy the girls Ocean City ornaments one year so they'd have that remembrance of our family vacations there when they start decorating their own trees. For some reason I never think of the practical things when we are looking at souvenir shops!
ReplyDeleteWe try to collect Christmas ornaments too. And then of course we love to tell the same stories about them every year when we unwrap them and hang them up
ReplyDeleteI adsmire your forward thinking - what a great idea to have this to rmeember in December. I'm hopeless on the collecting front, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteWe collect Christmas ornaments on our travels too!
ReplyDeleteI love that you can buy ornaments any time of year! In Australia, people are a lot more conservative about Christmas, if tourist venues started selling Christmas ornaments, I think half of Australia might have a heart attack (and the other half might shop til they drop!)
