I'm so glad I decided to join in with Cathy Zielske's FIT 2016 workshop because it's giving me a way to track progress on my healthy living goals. On February 1, I weighed in and took my measurements again. I'm excited to report that I lost eight pounds in January and all my other numbers are down a little, too.
I attribute these changes to the effort I made to exercise daily and track my eating using the My Fitness Pal app. Robbie and I have also been striving to include more vegetables (and less calories) in our meals. While I didn't accomplish my goal of exercising every day, I am thrilled with the amount of exercise I was able to get in throughout the month. I'm tracking the minutes I exercise each day on this page that Cheri created.
I used the digital materials from the workshop to create a page to add to my calendar/planner after I write in my exercise (30 minutes a day), activity (yard work) and adventure (visit local museum) goals for this month.
I'll add journaling to the back of the page with thoughts on my progress so far and an answer to Cathy's February question - what does caring look like to me. I like Cathy's reminder that we can't just care about the numbers, these are lifestyle changes that may or may not be reflected in the numbers. While I definitely want to lose a few more pounds, I care more about making choices that will help me feel better, have more energy, and be able to enjoy this wonderful life!
Have you made any healthy living changes this year?
Well done you! That's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking hard about ways to boost my immune system
Great job! My Fitness Pal is a wonderful tool. I used it simultaneously with training, and got in superb shape.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I like that quote about striving for progress not perfection
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a month well done!! You are motivated and that's half the battle! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I didn't start until the middle of the month, but have made some important changes that have paid off already.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you joined too! I am happy to have company on this crazy journey this year. I get really jealous when I see people for whom the weight just seems to be melting off as I am struggling for each and every pound, but I'm committed this year. I've been fighting that internal voice that keeps telling me to throw in the towel - eat the cookies and bread - stop trying so hard. I think maybe it is finally starting to get the hint!
ReplyDeleteOh well done
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Melissa! I have found that I HAVE to do the healthy eating AND exercise to lose. Doing one without the other just doesn't work for me. I am hitting the gym 5-7 days a week and actually doing 2 a days 2-3x. And even with that it's a sloooowww process for me.
ReplyDeletewell done, mine is coming off very slowly!
ReplyDeleteWell done Melissa.....I started well but my trip put me off again...am trying to get back on track now xx
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I have diligently been tracking in My Fitness Pal too - it's a very complete database of foods. But I don't have near the progress you are showing. Keep it up!
