Hello August!

July was a busy and extremely hot month here in Texas. As with previous months, I was fairly successful with some of  my 2016 goals (MOVE, LEARN, TEACH, SCRAP, CLEAN) . . . and not as successful with others.

MOVE - Honestly, while I exercised almost half the days in July, I really don't feel that I was very successful with my goal to include regular exercise and daily activity into my schedule. As with all healthy living goals, I'm reminding myself that moving more is good for me and something that I'll continue to work on throughout my life. This month I'll be focusing on this goal a lot as I feel like it's the one that has gotten the least attention the past few months. (In fact, I've already ridden the exercise bike and completed a strength training routine today!)

LEARN - I attended several in-person classes where I learned about new products, tried new techniques, and had FUN creating. I especially like the cards I created at the Heartfelt Creations Card Class I took at Personal Scrapbook.

At the Beyond Intro Bible Journaling Class at The Little Blue House (not-so) local scrapbook store, I enjoyed using some familiar illustrated Bible journaling techniques and learning a few new ones! I especially like this light bulb illustration (which I traced in my Bible using graphite paper) from the instructor, Tonya Hamilton. (She shares lots of Bible journaling INSPIRATION on her Messy Bible Facebook page.)

Candi, the owner of Personal Scrapbook, invited me to attend an event put on by The Collins Group, a manufacturer's sales rep group for a host of companies including Ranger, Sizzix, Bo Bunny, and Bella Blvd. We created several projects at the event and saw some demonstrations (which I'll share more about in a future post). Here's a look at two of the projects we completed - a mini-pallet and a slider card.

I also completed several more lessons in the free Inspired Faith class at (which I shared HERE and HERE) and watched a video in the FIT 2016 workshop. This month I'm planning to complete the remaining lesson in the Inspired Faith class and catch up with the materials in the FIT workshop.

TEACH - I taught three Illustrated Bible Journaling Workshops and hosted two Demos & Devotionals Bible Journaling "Crops" in July. Here's a look at a couple of the groups of ladies who joined me.

This month I only have one event scheduled, but I'll be busy working on my fall roster of classes.
SCRAP- I didn't create any layouts in July, however I did put together the page kits for my Christmas layout, and I caught up with the pages in my 2016 Gratitude Journal. (Jan, Feb, March, April, May, June)!

I'm really feeling the need to scrapbook, so I'm considering joining in with Shimelle's new class this month. Who's already signed up?

CLEAN - We finally have (almost) everything moved out of the old toy room, so this month I'll be prepping and painting the walls as we get ready to turn it into the new craft room!

Did you accomplish your goals for July? What are your plans for August?

  1. Like you, I was successful with some goals, and not so much with others. All in all, it was a busy month---two weeks were totally devoted to family so that didn't leave as much time for other pursuits. It was a good month, though, and I am so grateful to have had so much family time.

  2. It can be hard to find time for scrapbooking in the summer here too. I feel guilty heading off upstairs when there are other things I could be doing with whoever is home. So I didn't get too many pages done in July either. And my exercise bike riding suffered too..

  3. Thanks for the connection to Shimelle's new class, popping over to check it out now. Happy week ahead, happy month ahead.

  4. I have been thinking about scrapbooking more than actually scrapbooking this summer. I saw Shimelle's new class, but I really, really have to finish up all my half-finished ones first. Enjoy!

  5. I signed up for the class. B-day gift for myself :). I haven't done too bad this summer, but it will be a lot easier to get back on track when school starts in 2 1/2 weeks.

  6. You've done really well, and I must say, I've not done any scrapping either but hope to change that

Thanks so much for your comment - it's like a ray of sunshine in my day!
