God's Word Stands Forever

Way back in the summer, six months ago, I signed up for the God Glory Art Workshop, an online collaborative faith based class coordinated by Jamie Dougherty. Each week for the past six months, one of the nine artists/teachers has posted a project, either illustrated Bible journaling or a mixed media canvas or some other crafty item. There were a few "catch-up" weeks scheduled in, so the classroom contains 19 different project ideas.

I have used the INSPIRATION in that class to create a total of (ahem) 5 projects. So, the bad news is that once again I have not kept up with a class and benefited from all the instruction. However, the good news is that I still have access to that material and can continue working on it in the coming weeks months.

The first week of class, Jamie shared a technique using color (hers was from real flowers, mine is acrylic paint) and doodling to create flowers. We illustrated Isaiah 40:6-8, which tells us that "the flower fades...but the Word of our God stands forever."

Jamie also demonstrated how to add a clear envelope as an insert in our Bibles to hold some flowers. I hadn't actually planned to do that until my niece Paige was here visiting this summer and we watched the class video together. I ended up using paper flowers in my envelope.

Paige used some of my flower stamps for her picture, along with a hand-lettered title.

She included lots of flowers in her envelope.

I love the fact that we both have this creative reminder in our Bibles that God's Word will stand forever!

I'll be sharing more projects from this class in future posts, and I'm looking forward to getting back into the classroom and enjoying the "few" weeks I haven't completed yet.

Did you sign up for any classes in 2017 that you didn't complete?
