The challenge this month at Scrapbookers Anonymous is to use holiday papers for a non-holiday layout. I chose two Christmas papers and created a layout about the Homemade Ice Cream Machine we discovered on our last visit to the First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas.
The first paper I chose was a 2002 My Mind's Eye paper from their Frame-Ups Fun Paper series called Christmas Stripe. I had several of these pages and actually used a couple of them for my 2001 Christmas photos. Obviously they've been in my stash a while!
The second paper I chose was a Power Page from an old Me & My Big Ideas book of Christmas themed pages. I decided to use the photo block on this page for my photos.
Here's the completed layout. Since I did not have much other white in the layout, I covered the white strip with Magic Mesh, and I even included a Christmas ribbon as a "shelf" for my photo block. (It looks like there are shadows on the layout, but those shadows are actually on the photos because it was a very sunny day!)
This looks great. I love how you have cut the papers and adapted them with the mesh. I really like to journal on strips like that as well.
