In reality, it is mainly my regular exercise and healthy eating habits that have not been consistent. I have been successful in many of the other areas of healthy living that are important to me (daily quiet time, Bible study, maintaining healthy relationships, emotional stability, creative time). I was encouraged by this verse I discovered last week: For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. 1 Timothy 4:8 This verse tells me that spiritual exercises and lifestyle have benefit now and in eternity. Of course, it doesn't say that bodily exercise is of no profit or should be avoided all together, right?
My Goals for the Coming Week
*Ride the exercise bike for 30 minutes at least four times. (I've picked a book to read ONLY when I'm riding as extra motivation! Paper Moon
*Complete a 30 minute strength training routine at least once.
*Begin re-reading a book on healthy living. (The Good Life)
*Drink no more than one 12 ounce can of Coca-Cola a day.
*Try at least one new light recipe.
I'll be back next week with a report on how I did and new goals for the following week. I'll also share a little about The Good Life by Ruth McGinnis.
Don't Miss This!
Those sound like great goals, Melissa, and I am waving you on here!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I cut my fitness posts back to once a month because I have been so NOT motivated lately, it's almost sad. I'm still getting a fair amount of exercise, but I haven't been making the best choices when it comes to eating - mainly due to an influx of chocolate chip cookies in the house. I didn't buy them or bake them, but if they are here, I'm going to eat them. sigh.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are finding unique ways to motivate yourself!
You are not alone - I have been a total slacker lately. So busy doing so many other things and exercise is always the first thing that gives when I'm overwhelmed. It shouldn't be because it has stress busting benefits and I know I'd feel better. But knowing and doing are two different things... Have a healthy weekend! :)
ReplyDeletegood luck with your goals!
ReplyDelete{I'm not doing too well in the eating/exercise department, either - I'm finding it a struggle doing it on my own, without real support from my husband... which sounds unfair to him, but it's one thing for him to say "you're beautiful, just the way you are", and another to say "let's go for a walk along the beach, we could use the fresh air"}
