Summer 2001 Trips Photo Album Scrapbook

I thought today I would share an album that I created at the end of June. I had photos in my oldest storage binder from five trips I had taken in the summer of 2001, so I decided to create a Photo Album Scrapbook (PAS) to highlight those trips.

As soon as I opened my storage binder, I saw the sticky note reminding me that I also had memorabilia from these trips, which I pulled out from my Memorabilia File.

I used a two-up photo album from Target. I didn’t embellish the outside of the album other than adding a tag & tassel to the spine.

I started by choosing which photos & memorabilia would go on each page. I just basically stuck the photos in the sleeves or laid the photo & memorabilia on the page if they wouldn’t fit in the sleeve yet. The result looked like this.

Then I was ready to begin putting it all together. I wanted the album to have three distinct sections, so I choose three different patterned papers, one for each section. The first section highlights three identical trips I took to Galveston that summer – I like to take my nieces and nephew on the same trip but separately so they get some one-on-one time. I used a red patterned paper and added a tab to the first page to mark the beginning of that section. As you can see from the following pages, I added bits & pieces of memorabilia (especially pieces cut from brochures) along the way.

For the second section, I chose a yellow patterned paper and once again added a tab to the side of the page to designate the start of photos from a trip to Mississippi with my then 12-year-old niece. You can see that sometimes I just write my journaling right on the memorabilia, like I did with the receipt below.

And then the last section included road map patterned paper to highlight the trip I took with my then 14 1/2 –year-old nephew to Alabama. Remember that not all pages have to be embellished, they can simply hold photos.

I store this album on the dresser in our guest room along with two others that I created highlighting my nieces’ visits to our home over the past several years. (You can see the other PASs here and here.)

This album came together quickly and has already been enjoyed by my nieces when they were visiting earlier this month.
