As you know, cruises are usually paid for in advance and are "all-inclusive." That is unless you want to drink something besides water, tea, juice or coffee. Y'all know I want my Coca-Cola, so that was the one extra that we knew ahead of time we would pay for on board.
I don't want anyone to be confused by the white can - this is definitely the Real Thing, not one of those diet varieties. It totally makes me laugh thinking about how this white holiday can was probably the second biggest marketing mistake Coca-Cola has made in its 126 year history. Do you remember what the number one mistake was?
As I remember, they decided to produce a 'new formulation' which was widely hated! Interested to read about the Vibram shoes: do you wear them for running, or just for casual wear? You looks as if you are enjoying yourself!
ReplyDeleteI ended up buying a pair of Merrell barefoot sneakers this summer. No toes, but the same concept. I love their low profile, and am surprised to find how comfortable they are even for someone with some serious foot problems. My daughter would be right there with you, needing the Coke! I'm a coffee drinker and rarely drink sodas. It's a great photo to record that part of your story.
ReplyDeleteCoca cola on a hot day was one of the cruise 'extras' I had to have....though closely followed by cocktails in the evening!!
ReplyDeleteI saw lots of those toe-shoes when we visited Las Vegas in March and wondered what they were for!!! Glad to read that they are super comfy - they looked anything but!
ReplyDeleteFab pages - lovely bright happy colours!
"New Coke" - stupidest thing they ever came up with. You don't fix a formula that's already perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe one cruise I've ever been on, we actually bought the kids "drink" cards which allowed them unlimited soda during the 4 days on board.
well I still think Diet Pepsi is the way to go.... anyways love your cute layouts. I actually started working on my London album yesterday! go me
ReplyDeleteThere biggest mistake was changing their formula - big flog!
ReplyDeleteI've seen those shoes everywhere and just didn't get it. I'm glad to hear they are comfortable and not some strange fad.
My husband is a Coca Cola addict but I stick with water and hot tea. He hated the new formula Coke and would search all over for the old ones until they stopped making the new. Your shoes sound interesting. I've never seen a pair but I am a walker and wonder how they would be for that.
ReplyDeleteI'd never come across the white cans, or heard of the new formula - maybe it didn't reach my part of the world? Or maybe I just don't drink much Coca Cola!
ReplyDeleteWe budgeted in a couple of 'extras' for our previous cruise too, and have recently booked another and shall be doing likewise! Drinks cards for the kids is one extra worth paying for :)
Fun layouts - love the blues and the reds! :) Yes, I'd have to say it probably is worth it to upgrade to the real thing! I am proud to say I am doing pretty good at avoiding soda most of the time now. But I had a recipe that called for some and the 2 liter's were buy one get one free at my store the other day so I caved. Back to square one!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the shoes before - but now I feel I'm one step ahead when they finally do reach us here!
ReplyDeleteAnd white cans are new to me too. I'll echo the others and say that we splashed out on Drinks cards as a treat too.
Beautifully bright and vibrant holiday pages Melissa. You excel at grabbing these little moments and pinning them down
I know some high performance athletes (okay if you run marathons I count you as that) and a few others with the shoes, glad you love them. I would hate them, the thought of toe socks is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I don't like my toes being confined at all but especially individually. On our cruise you could buy a special Coke insulated coke bottle for an endless supply. I understood the New Coke fiasco but thought the big whoha about the holiday can design was blown way up.
