New York 2007 - Not-My-Typical-12x12 Week

Welcome to Not-My-Typical-12x12 Week here at Daily Life - Bits & Pieces. Each day this week I'll be sharing a layout that is not my traditional 12x12 layout. These layouts will be various sizes and formats.

I have another 8x8 layout to share today, however this one uses both sides of a divided page protector. We spent five days of Thanksgiving week in New York City in 2007. This trip was a high school graduation gift for my oldest niece. My friend Elinor, who loved New York, also traveled with us. After the trip, I created two nearly identical 12x12 albums with photos from the trip - one for me and one for my niece. So, for my 2007 album, I simply wanted to add a small page showcasing a few photos. I used a divided page protector with two 4x6 spaces and two smaller spaces.

I included a small journal card briefly describing the trip and then noting that lots more photos and memories from this trip can be found in our New York 2007 album! I love this idea of cross-referencing albums that Shimelle shared in her Cover to Cover class. Basically it's a reference in one album to more or similar photos in another album. This way, if someone is enjoying my 2007 album and wants to see more about our New York trip, they'll know exactly which album to look for on the shelf!

Have you used cross-referencing in your albums?

  2. Love this use of the divided protector! :)

I haven't cross-referenced at all yet, because of not having an organised system in place - but I noted Shimelle's suggestion in the Cover to Cover class, and when I do get organised it's definitely something I want to follow up.

  3. Great page! I love using divided page protectors though other than in PL, I haven't created any lately. I must fix that! :)

  4. Great use of the divided page protector. I love these and frequently use them to add extra photos from trips which I put behind any layout I create from the trip. I just purchased an 8X6 scrapbook with divided protectors to use for this year's Christmas Journal.

  5. 8x8 is such a fun size! I have not done any cross-referencing of albums. I'm afraid I would get too obsessive about it!

  6. I'm the librarian who doesn't cross reference! They'd all laugh if I tried it round here :)

  7. No, I don't cross-reference my albums. Actually, I never thought to do it! Guess I'm just too lazy.
