A Start On Daddy's Childhood Album

Several months ago, Daddy loaned me all Grandma's old photo albums, the kind with the sticky pages and a piece of plastic to cover the photos! I'm slowly (very slowly actually) removing the photos from those albums and sorting them by individual or family or location or event. So far, I've gotten the photos out of three albums . . . and have about ten to go!

One of the groups of photos includes Daddy's childhood portraits and school pictures. I decided to make an 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbook with photos from Daddy's childhood and these photos seemed the perfect (and easiest) ones to start with. To make it simple, I decided to use primarily black, blue, and red cardstock for this album. I'll add in a few patterned papers in these colors as well as some themed embellishments along the way.

First, I did these simple pages with the 8x10 portraits. In the old albums, Grandma had taken a permanent marker & labeled a lot of the photos by writing on the plastic cover. (Which is such a blessing!) I wanted to preserve some of Grandma's handwriting, so I cut pieces of the plastic and included them on a few of these pages.

 

 

I created a simple timeline layout with smaller school photos - unfortunately, I'm missing a couple of years.

I used some of the medium sized school pictures to create a two-page spread with photos from 1st through 6th grade.

 

I also put together three pages with photos from his high school graduation.

 

I added a journaling block to the Graduate page as a place to list Daddy's graduation gifts (which are shown in the photos). He says he has the list written down somewhere in his memorabilia - now if I can just get him to find it for me! :>)

BTW - I'm headed out tomorrow for the BPC Play! in Anaheim event, so I'm not sure if I'll have much time on the Internet for the rest of the week. I may try to pop in if I get a chance, otherwise I'll be around to visit everyone next week.
