This week I've enjoyed working on the January prompts in the One Little Word class as I contemplate my ACTIVE year! I especially appreciate Ali's reminders that it takes time to develop a relationship with our words and that just having a word will not change our lives. It's up to us to put in the work to engage with our word throughout the year.
One of my goals this year is to ACTIVELY use my stash, so I chose an 8 1/2 x 11 binder (similar to the ones I used for FUN and INSPIRATION in previous years) to hold the materials and prompts from this year's class. (The binder is actually quite purple with pink & white flowers, but shows up bluish in the photo.)
I grabbed a 6x6 page protector for my first page in the album. The photo I chose to use is actually from December, but it was taken around the time that I decided on my word - an ACTIVE day of baking, cooking, entertaining a guest in our home, and hosting a dinner party for family. It was a FUN day and this photo reminds me of the good feelings I want to pursue during this ACTIVE year. Since I'm using purple and pink papers in this album, I printed the photo in black and white.
For the back of that page protector, I chose a pink patterned papers, purple letter stickers, and words from a Tim Holtz Ideaology sticker pad.
Luckily, Ali is provided materials in both a 6x8 format (to match the album she's using) and an 8 1/2x11 format (although this is the last year she'll provide that size). I printed the eight January prompt cards and cut them to fit in a 9-pocket page protector. I found a tag in my stash that I cut apart and used for the extra pocket. I added journaling and embellishments and really like the way this page turned out.
I don't have anything on the back of that 9-pocket page yet, but I'm sure there will be another prompt in the coming months that will work there.
I printed The Year Ahead and Intentions pages on pink paper and added my journaling with purple ink. I slipped this page into an 8 1/2x11 page protector.
Here's a peek at how everything looks when the album is open.
I'm pleased with the start to my ACTIVE year and album and excited about the year ahead!
I'm also excited that my sister Brenda is joining me in the One Little Word class this year. She's also started a new blog - be sure to click over and check out the cute photo she took to introduce her year of BALANCE!
This is already looking great, and you've been very active in getting this month's prompts completed and into your album. I'm fascinated how some of your intentions and 'let go's are very similar to mine, though we've chosen different words!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great. I have enjoyed watching the process during our daily chats this week.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, you're on top of things! What a great start for documenting your OLW.
ReplyDeletelooking forward to seeing your year, you are always so organised. x
ReplyDeletegreat word! I need to do my word of the year post...
ReplyDeleteLooking really good!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like I might need to stock up on 8.5 sized albums. If Ali stops advocating them, they'll disappear completely..
What an active start you are off to.
ReplyDeleteLooks good - and I think y'all will have so much fun this year with that word.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that this was the last year Ali will support 8.5 x 11, which was timely as I moved to 6x8 this year.
Well done on your word so far, you've done a really good job with it
ReplyDeleteGreat start to Ali's project this year. She is so inspiring. I love the word you have chosen. I'm constantly on the go but sometimes not where I want to be. More of a need. You inspire me to focus on my want a little more this year. FYI - my word is RESET thanks to Cori at TheResetGirl. I've decided this is the year I reset my priorities. Creative Blessings! Kelly
