Sunday Musings - He Is With Me!

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, "Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
~Deuteronomy 31:7-8

Can you imagine being the one God chose to take the place of Moses and lead the Israelites into the Promised Land? After all, Moses had led the people out of Egypt, he had struck a rock and water spewed forth in the desert, he had to cover his face because it shown with the glory of God! Yet, God promised to be with Joshua just as He was with Moses.

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun ... "I will not leave you nor forsake you. ... Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. ... Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
~Joshua 1:1, 5, 7, 9

We know that the Lord is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 11:8). As He was with Joshua, He will be with us. We see this reminder in the letter to the Hebrews - for He has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (15:5)

We can claim this promise for ourselves and know that the Lord is with us wherever we go.

As we know from the rest of the story in the book of Joshua, God was with him as he lead the Israelites across the Jordan into the Promised Land. And, He will be with us wherever we go!
